Fancy dress party kicks off New Year revelry

A nature themed party on Friday evening will herald the start of Chiang Mai’s New Year celebrations. The 909 Gardens north of the city is the venue for the Magic Forest Creativity Gets Wild party and charity fund raising event.

Event organisers Team Club Martini say the dress criterion for the evening is wild forest or funky fairy tale, and the most creative outfits will receive prizes. DJ Oz Metro and Jimmy Whelan are two of the live entertainers scheduled to wow party guests.

Other offerings on the night are horse-drawn carriage rides through the six rai garden paradise, a fire show, raffles and the chance of a bird’s eye of the proceedings from the lofty position of an anchored hot-air balloon basket. To enjoy the latter guests need to donate at least 300 Baht to flood victim relief funds.

Those with a spare 18,000 Baht in their pockets can enter bidding in the online auction for a VIP helicopter trip for six. The party starts at 17:30 with a free-flow bar which runs for two hours. International delicacies and beverages will be on offer for the delectation of guests throughout the evening.

Advance tickets can be purchased at Wawee Coffee outlets, or online, and are 350 Baht. Tickets for those wishing to pay at the gate are 450 Baht. Complimentary transport to the 909 Gardens departs from the Hotel M on Tha Pae Gate. Additional details at www.teamclubmartini.com.
