Bo Sang Umbrella and Sankamphaeng Handicraft Festival 2019

The annual Bo Sang Umbrella and Sankamphaeng Handicraft Festival is held to celebrate and recognize the community that creates Thailand’s most famous umbrellas handmade from Saa, or mulberry bark, paper. This year marks the event’s 36th edition, which takes place from 18-20 January 2019.

Event’s programme:

DAY ONE: 18 January 2019

09.00 Hrs. onwards:
– Enjoy umbrella and lantern decorations of shops and houses along Bo Sang Street
– Bo Sang umbrella exhibition at Ob-Choey shop
– Exhibition of Indonesian umbrella in front of 7-eleven Bo Sang

10.00 Hrs. and 14.00 Hrs.
– Bo Sang umbrella bike parade
– Bo Sang Beauty Pageant Bike Parade
*Participants with an umbrella in one hand while riding a bike with another

15.00 Hrs.
– Lanna traditional community market at Bo Sang intersection police box
– Cultural performances on stage at Ban Bo Sang Co-operatives office

18.00 Hrs. onwards
– Opening ceremony of the 36th Bo Sang Umbrella and Sankamphaeng Handicraft Festival
– Parade of cars decorated with umbrellas
– Cultural performances of Sankamphaeng School on stage at Bo Sang intersection
– Cultural performances at Bo Sang Soi 1

DAY TWO: 19 January 2019

– Enjoy umbrella and lantern decorations of shops and houses along Bo Sang Street

– Umbrellas and handheld fans drawing workshop
– Contest and competition on various types of handicraft
– Workshops on umbrella painting, umbrella scrap, traditional Indonesian umbrella making, Indonesian culinary in front of 7-eleven Bo Sang

– Bo Sang umbrella bike parade
– Bo Sang Beauty Pageant Bike Parade

– Bo Sang Walking Street pedestrian market
– Cultural performances on stage at Ban Bo Sang Co-operatives office
